Surface Design Course

I recently completed a Surface Design short course online with the International School of Colour and Design. Surface Design is basically the development of prints and patterns that can be applied to any surface, including cushions, bed linen, wrapping paper, packaging, fabrics and wallpaper, just to name a few.

The course covered many principles of design which, as a Senior Designer I was already familiar with. What I really enjoyed was expanding my knowledge of the Pattern Tool in Illustrator and learning how to create a repeat swatch for seamless patterns. It was also great to experiment with different wet and dry mediums, and revisit the process of Mood Boards. Keep an eye out for more patterns in my portfolio in the future!
